1)AIM :

The first aim of this activity is to have fun.

The second one is to give the possibility to operators all over the world to activate different Castles and Fortresses. Furthermore, the operators fond of COTA (Castles On The Air) will have the possibility to contact a great number of CF stations in a small period of time.

According to the "chosen category" the challenge will be to score as many points as possible.

The stations that activate castles must pass the highest number of progressive numbers. The stations that take part as participants must contact the highest number of castles possible.

5) REGISTRATION :

Registration to the W.C.D is free, there is no registration fee required.

The participants that receive the approval, promise to respect the following W.C.D.rules.

In order for there to be a better organization, each operator or team that wishes to participate must absolutely fill in the application form and send it to the organizers of the W.C.D.

There are two kinds of registrations:

- Registration only for the participants of the W.C.D.

- Registration for the teams that intend to activate a Castle or Fortress.

There is a "sample" of the official log for all participants (whatever category they belong to).

Registration deadline :

The application forms must be filled in and sent to the organizers:

- Before and not after Saturday September 13, 2003.

6) ORGANIZATION :

There will be two categories of operators :

- Category A : The teams that activate Castles or Fortresses.

- Category B : The operators that participate to the contest and contact the highest number of CF.

If you decide to participate in Category A you can not participate in Category B and vice-versa.

6.1) Category A "For the DX groups and the different Teams that activate a CF".

Each DX group will decide and organize together with its members, the creation of teams able to activate Castles or Fortresses.

There will be a team for each castle composed by at least 2 operators.

Each DX group must prepare a minimum of 4 Teams for category A.

Each DX group can prepare a maximum of 10 Teams for category A, only if there is a minimum of 10 participants per group in category B.

Procedure:

a) Contact the organizers of the W.C.D. to register the groups and teams.

b) Each Team from each DX group must choose three (3) Castles or Fortresses they intend to activate.

c) The list of Castles and/or Fortresses must be reported by preference.

d) Send this list to the organizers before and not after September 20, 2003.

e) The organizers will create a corrected and definitive list of all the castles that can be activated by the different Teams. The reason for this procedure is to avoid doubles and to make sure that the distribution of castles to be activated will be equal.

f) The contest manager will confirm the reference with which the castle must be activated.

g) In order for an activation to be considered valid, the team must transmit within a maximum range of 500 meters from the castle. You must consider that the 500 meters begin from the walls of the property.

6.2) Call signs for the W.C.D :

There will be only one kind of call sign, to avoid misunderstandings during the contest. The system already adopted by the Delta Radio Group for the COTA activations will also be used for the W.C.D.

Whatever the DX group may be, the call sign of the CF stations will be composed as follows:

Examples:

14 SDI / CF 27-005

14 FRG /CF 51-003

14 DR / CF 91-001

1 DR / CF BA-001

- CF : stands for Castles & Fortresses

- The first two letters or numbers after CF refer to the department, province, county or other (where the CF is located)

- The suffix, composed by three numbers is the reference assigned to the castle or fortress.

IMPORTANT : the references will be given by the contest manager, when he confirms the list of castles that can be activated by each Team.

6.3) Category B "For the DX groups and the operators that participate to the W.C.D".

Procedure:

a) Contact the organizers to register and to get an "example" of the official log.

b) Contact the highest number of castles and fortresses during the W.C.D.

c) Always use the same call sign during the Contest.

d) Send your log before and not after the dates reported in the W.C.D. rules.
